Battle of the Woodcut Techniques: Hanga vs. Western
It was a terrific turn out at the battle of ‘East vs West’, the simultaneous woodcut demonstrations by Chris Papa and Francesca Lohman at Sev Shoon last week.
Francesca demonstrated Moku Hanga traditional Japanese woodcut techniques and Chris Papa countered with his western skills. It proved an exciting way to compare and contrast methods, motivations and materials.

Chris Papa is represented by Davidson Galleries. He currently has a sculpture installed at Carceek Park.
Francesca Lohman’s work is currently on display at Cullom Gallery in the project Walls in collaboration with Agata Michalowska which runs through August 27th 2011.
