The 2011 Annual Membership Meeting and Party returned to the Tashiro Kaplan Building Friday, January 21st. The party gave everyone a chance to catch up with friends over great food and drinks and view the works on paper members pinned up to share.

The membership meeting began with our president, Dionne Haroutunian thanking everyone for participating in all of the events of the last year and making our tenth anniversary a great success. Cara Forrler, announced the programming for this year as she steps into Dionne’s role as president. Board Treasurer, Quincy Robertson reviewed our finances; thanks to membership dues and many generous donations Seattle Print Arts is in excellent financial shape.

 

Some of the Highlights from the evening:

2010 Seattle Print Arts Scholarship recipient Emma Levitt, and the 2010 Larry Sommers Art Fellowship recipient Ben Moreau spoke about their awards.

Anna McKee introduced artists and the projects that received the Outside Art scholarships.

The board previewed the events for the coming year. Details will be listed in upcoming weekly e-newsletters and on the website.

Our first event Sunday February 13th is a screen-printing party in honor of Valentine’s Day and Larry Sommers. Show up at Sev Shoon between 2:00 and 5:00 PM with some paper and/or t-shirts to print Larry's screens on!

  • A new $2,000 scholarship “Inside/Out Art” open to members.

  • More Collectors Lecture Series and Visiting Artist Program events.

  • A spring presentation by Combat Paper (www.combatpaper.org).

  • The Larry Sommers Art Fellowship.

  • This is the year of the Biennial Print Portfolio Exchange.

  • The Salon Annual Summer Picnic.
