Dry Point Duel

The Seattle Print Arts sponsored event, Drypoint Duel was a visual mix of hard and soft; clean and dirty. The intaglio battle between Seattle-based artists Curt Labitzke, and Kim Van Someren was held at the University of Washington's Printmaking shops. The two artists demonstrated their distinct differences of imagery and working styles using the similar materials of plexiglas, ink, paper and pressure.
Curt's demonstration of marrying ink, paint, glue, razors, and other non-traditional printmaking materials was matched with Kim's sedentary movements of plate-making and plate printing.

Special thanks to the University of Washington for hosting venue, as well as Seattle Print Arts volunteers Amanda Knowles, Dionne Haurotunian, and Carole Carroll and all who came to support this event. Additional thank yous to participating artists, Curt Labitzke and Kim Van Someren. Images courtesy of Jon Taylor.
