Miyazaki creates prints and paintings that weave wry humor and intentional ambiguity into narratives laden with psychological tension. Her intaglio prints use her signature sandblasted copper plates combined with etching, aquatint and spit bite to build layers of texture and color. Hibiki builds scenes intended to trigger the viewer’s personal associations that create their own story.
The artist talk coincides with Pieces of Stories, a two-person show featuring the work of Hibiki Miyazaki and Melinda Tidwell, on exhibit Thursday, April 6 – Saturday, April 29, 2017, at ZINC contemporary.
